Performance Installation, 2001

Snowblind is when we are overwhelmed by light reflected from snow particles. This parallels our inability to filter a deluge information, when filtering becomes the world, when information becomes a landscape, and bodies are viewed cinematically rather than experienced subjectively. The transformation from “establishing shot” naturalism to the storm of subordinate experience-data is enacted in the fierce and reflective movements of a solo performer responding to herself on screen.

Created by Jamie Jewett and Aaron Henderson
Performed by Mira Kim
Music by Matmos and Mark Isham

Snowblind was initially comissioned by Entity, a Michigan based digital media collective. This 15 minute performance/installation was premiered at the University of Michigan’s 2002 IMMEDIA conference.
